Serve Your Community. Change Lives.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of Rancho Brazos Community Center. When neighbors show up for neighbors, hope grows, families are supported, children thrive, and our community becomes stronger together.

Why Volunteer With Rancho Brazos

Hope Is Multiplied When We Serve Together

Every program we offer is made possible because people like you give their time, compassion, and energy. Whether you’re able to serve weekly, monthly, or occasionally, your involvement helps ensure families across Hood County receive the support they need with dignity and care.

Volunteering with Rancho Brazos means becoming part of a community that believes in showing up, loving well, and making a real difference.

Ways to Volunteer

There’s a Place for Everyone to Serve

We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to match different schedules, skills, and passions.

Benevolence Team

Our Benevolence Team serves families facing immediate needs by offering compassionate, practical support during times of hardship.

Volunteers help by:

  • Assisting families with applications for financial assistance
  • Helping provide utility, gas, or emergency support
  • Connecting families to our food pantry and hygiene room
  • Light filing and administrative tasks
  • Organizing donations and pantry supplies

This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy one-on-one interaction, organization, and offering encouragement during difficult moments.

Rancho Rec After-School Program

Our after-school recreation program provides a safe, structured space for children to learn, grow, and succeed. Volunteers play a key role in supporting students academically and emotionally.

Volunteers help by:

  • Tutoring students in reading and math
  • Assisting with homework and unfinished schoolwork
  • Leading enrichment activities when homework is complete

Weekly themes include:

  • Math Monday
  • Reading Tuesday
  • AUMC Wednesday
  • STEAM / Makerspace Thursday
  • Free Friday

This is a great opportunity for educators, students, retirees, or anyone who loves working with kids.

TAFB Drive-Thru Pantry

Our monthly drive-thru food pantry serves families efficiently while maintaining dignity and care.

Volunteers assist with:

  • Sorting and separating food
  • Taking applications
  • Loading food into vehicles
  • Delivering food to other communities in need
  • Cleanup after distribution

This opportunity is perfect for individuals, families, church groups, or teams looking to serve together.

Donation Pick-Up Volunteers

We frequently receive calls for donation pick-ups, and additional hands make all the difference.

Volunteers with trucks can help by:

  • Picking up donated items from community members or businesses
  • Transporting donations to Rancho Brazos

This flexible, on-call opportunity is ideal for those who want to help behind the scenes.

Summer To-Go Lunch Distribution

Help ensure children in our community receive nutritious meals during the summer months.

Volunteers help by:

  • Serving lunches
  • Supporting daily distribution

Your willingness to serve allows us to take program kids on field trips and ensures children not enrolled in programs still have access to meals throughout the week.

What to Expect as a Volunteer

We strive to make volunteering with Rancho Brazos meaningful and welcoming. You can expect:

  • Clear communication and guidance
  • A supportive, team-oriented environment
  • Flexible opportunities
  • The chance to see the direct impact of your service

Some roles may require basic training or background checks to ensure the safety of the children and families we serve.
